The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
