The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 The others suggested holding Moses and his brother off and sending to all the cities 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And [then] We inspired Moses, "Throw down thy staff!" - and lo! it swallowed up all their deceptions: 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
