And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
