The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
