And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
