It is Allah that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back (from returning to life), but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed verily in this are Signs for those who reflect. 42 Or choose they intercessors other than Allah? Say: What! Even though they have power over nothing and have no intelligence? 43 Say, "Intercession belongs to God. To Him belongs the heavens and the earth and to Him you will all return." 44 And when Allah the One God is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter get constricted; and when others (false deities) besides Him are mentioned, they rejoice! 45 Say: 'O God, Thou originator of the heavens and the earth who knowest the Unseen and the Visible, Thou shalt judge between Thy servants touching that whereon they are at variance.' 46 Even if the wrong-doers had all that there is on earth, and as much more, (in vain) would they offer it for ransom from the pain of the Penalty on the Day of Judgment: but something will confront them from Allah, which they could never have counted upon! 47 And the evils of that which they earned will become apparent to them, and they will be encircled by that which they used to mock at! 48 When hurt toucheth a man he calleth on us, and thereafter, when We have changed it unto a favour from Us, he saith: I have been given it so only by force of my knowledge. Aye! it is a trial, but most of them know not. 49 Those before them also said the same, so their earnings did not benefit them at all. 50 the very evil of their deeds recoiled upon them; today's wrongdoers shall also have the evil of their deeds recoil upon them: they will never be able to frustrate [Our plan]. 51 Do they not know that Allah outspreads and withholds His provision to whosoever He will? Surely, there are signs in this for a believing nation. 52
