He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
