Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
