Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
