The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
