The angels said, "Mary, God has selected you and purified you. He has selected you over [all] the women of your time. 42 O Mary! Be obedient to thy Lord, prostrate thyself and bow with those who bow (in worship). 43 (That is of the tidings of the Unseen, that We reveal to thee; for thou wast not with them, when they were casting quills which of them should have charge of Mary; thou wast not with them, when they were disputing.) 44 Recall what time the angels said: Maryam! verily Allah announceth unto thee a word from Him: his name shall be the Masih, Isa, son of Maryam, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter and one of those brought nigh. 45 “He will speak to people while he is in the cradle and in his adulthood, and will be of the devoted ones.” 46 She said, “My Lord! How can I bear a child when no man has ever touched me?” He said, “This is how Allah creates whatever He wills; when He wills a thing, He only says to it, ‘Be’ – and it happens immediately.” 47 And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel, 48 And he will be Apostle to the children of Israel, (saying:) 'I have come to you with a prodigy from your Lord that I will fashion the state of destiny out of mire for you, and breathe (a new spirit) into it, and (you) will rise by the will of God. I will heal the blind and the leper, and infuse life into the dead, by the leave of God. I will tell you what you devour and what you hoard in your homes. In this will be a portent for you if you do believe. 49 I (have come to) confirm the truth of the Torah which was sent down before me, and make certain things lawful which have been forbidden until now; and I come to you with a sign from your Lord; so be fearful of God and follow me. 50 Surely God is my Lord, and your Lord, so worship Him; and this is the right path. 51 ۞ Then when 'Isa perceived in them infidelity, he said: who will be my helpers unto Allah! The disciples said; we are helpers of Allah; we believe in Allah and bear thou witness that verily we are Muslims. 52 Our Lord, we believe in what You have sent down and we follow the messenger, so count us among those who bear witness." 53 And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill 'Iesa (Jesus)], and Allah planned too. And Allah is the Best of the planners. 54
