Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
