The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
