He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
