And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright! 37 Until when he comes to Us, he says: O would that between me and you there were the distance of the East and the West; so evil is the associate! 38 And it will profit you not today, because ye have done wrong, that ye are in the torment sharers. 39 Can you, (O Prophet), then make the deaf hear, or direct to the Right Way the blind or one lost in manifest error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 or make you see the end that We had promised them, for We have full power over them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 and, verily, this [revelation] shall indeed become [a source of] eminence for thee and thy people: but in time you all will be called to account [for what you have done with it]. 44 Ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before you, "Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent One?" 45
