Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 “That you must worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me.” 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
