No, by the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
