Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
