Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 And by the night when it departeth, 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 Of Eram with lofty pillars (erected as signposts in the desert), 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 And how did He deal with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley? 9 And with Fir'awn, owner of the stakes 10 Those who rebelled in the cities, 11 And multiplied therein corruption. 12 Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment; 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 No indeed; but you honour not the orphan, 17 or urge one another to feed the destitute? 18 and you devour the inheritance greedily, 19 And love wealth with abounding love. 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 And when the command of your Lord comes – and the angels row by row, 22 And the Hell on that Day shall be brought nigh. On that Day man shall remember, but how will remembrance avail him? 23 He will say: "Alas the woe! Would that I had sent ahead something in my life." 24 So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. 25 And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. 26 'O soul at peace, 27 return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30
