When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
