The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: 1 so that he could warn them of His stern retribution, give the glad news of the best and everlasting reward to the righteously striving believers, 2 In which they will remain forever 3 And that it may warn those who say: "God has begotten a son." 4 They do not have any knowledge of it – nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran). 6 We have caused earthly things to seem attractive so that We can see who will excel in good deeds. 7 but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. 8 Did you know that the People of the Cave and People close to the Woods, were Our exceptional signs? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 Therefore We covered up their (sense of) hearing (causing them, to go in deep sleep) in the Cave for a number of years. 11 Then roused them to ascertain which of the two groups could account for the period they had stayed. 12
