And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
