In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
