The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
