He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
