It is not your riches nor your children that make you near-stationed to Us, except for him who has faith and acts righteously; it is they who will receive double the recompense for their deeds. They shall live in lofty mansions in perfect peace. 37 while those who strive to thwart Our messages, seeking to defeat their purpose, shall be summoned to punishment. 38 Say: "Behold, my Sustainer grants abundant sustenance, or gives it in scant measure, unto whomever He wills of His servants; and whatever it be that you spend on others, He [always] replaces it: for He is the best of providers." 39 And on the Day whereon He gathereth them together, then He will say unto the angels: was it ye that these were wont to worship? 40 "God forbid!" (they will answer). "You are our protector not they. In fact, they worshipped the devils. Most of them believed in them." 41 So on that Day no power shall they have over each other, for profit or harm: and We shall say to the wrong-doers, "Taste ye the Penalty of the Fire,- the which ye were wont to deny!" 42 Whenever Our messages are conveyed to them in all their clarity, they say, "This [Muhammad] is nothing but a man who wants to turn you away from what your forefathers worshipped." And they say, "This [Quran] is nothing but an invented falsehood." And they who are bent on denying the truth speak thus of the truth when it comes to them, "This is clearly nothing but plain sorcery!" 43 But We had not given them Books which they could study, nor sent messengers to them before thee as Warners. 44 And those before them belied; and these have not arrived unto a tithe of that which We vouchsafed unto them. But they belied My apostles. So how terrible was My disapproval 45
