The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right. 38
