And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
