The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
