The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky and the night comer - 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
