And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good. 14 And he entered the city at a time when its people were not watching: and he found there two men fighting,- one of his own religion, and the other, of his foes. Now the man of his own religion appealed to him against his foe, and Moses struck him with his fist and made an end of him. He said: "This is a work of Evil (Satan): for he is an enemy that manifestly misleads!" 15 (Moses) said, "Lord, I have wronged myself. Forgive me!" The Lord forgave him; He is All-forgiving and All-merciful. 16 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast bestowed a favor on me, I shall never be a backer of the guilty. 17 The next morning, when he was walking in the city, apprehensive, and watchful, and the man who had sought his help the day before cried out to him again for help. Moses said to him, "You are clearly a misguided man." 18 Then as he was about to lay hands on the one who was their common enemy, he cried out: "O Moses, do you want to kill me as you killed that person yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and no peacemaker." 19 A man came running from the farthest part of the city saying, "Moses, people are planning to kill you. I sincerely advise you to leave the city. 20 So he went forth from thence, looking fearfully about him, and prayed: "O my Sustainer! Save me from all evildoing folk!" 21
