Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 By the luminious Book. 2 that We sent down during a Blessed Night. We are ever warning. 3 During it are distributed all the works of wisdom. 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 in pursuance of thy Sustainer's grace [unto man]. Verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing, 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but) have a faith with certainty. 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore. 8 (But the fact is, they lack certainty) and frolic about in doubt. 9 Wait, then, for the Day when the sky brings forth plainly visible clouds of smoke. 10 enveloping people. That will be a grievous scourge. 11 (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!" 12 How can they benefit from admonition, seeing that a messenger had already come to them explaining things clearly? 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 We are removing the punishment a little, but you revert. 15 On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. 16 ۞ Already before them We tried the people of Pharaoh, and a noble Messenger came unto them, 17 (saying:) 'Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger. 18 "And exalt not yourselves against God: for, verily, I come unto you with a manifest authority [from Him]; 19 and I take refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me. 20 And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone. 21 And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk. 22 (The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued. 23 Leave the sea behind you parted; they are a host destined to be drowned." 24 How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. 25 sown fields, and how noble a station, 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 Even so; and We caused to inherit them another people. 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29
