He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
