182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By those who range themselves in rows; 1 by those who drive away the devil (to protect Our revelation), 2 And those who recite the Reminder, 3 Verily your Ilah (God) is indeed One (i.e. Allah); 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them and the Lord of the sun’s rising points. 5 He decked the nearest heavens with ornaments of stars, 6 and to preserve against every rebel Satan; 7 [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side, 8 cast out [from all grace,] with lasting suffering in store for them [in the life to come]; 9 Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]. 10 (Muhammad), ask them, "Have they (people) been created stronger than what We have created?" We have created them from moist clay. 11 Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock 12 When they are reminded, they do not remember. 13 And when they see a sign, they ridicule 14 and say: "This is clearly nothing but [a mortal's] spellbinding eloquence! 15 "What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again) 16 And our forefathers? 17 You say: "Yes; and you will be lowly made." 18 For it is only a single scaring, then behold, they are watching 19 and will say: "Oh, woe unto us! This is the Day of Judgment!" 20 This is the Day of Judgment which ye were wont to belie. 21
