The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
