The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
