Al-Najm 3 of 3
(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 and that it is He alone who deals death and grants life; 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 and covered them with torment. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
