HALLOWED is He who has set up in the skies great constellations, and has placed among them a [radiant] lamp and a light-giving moon. 61 He it is Who caused the night and the day to succeed each other so that everyone who desires may learn a lesson or become grateful. 62 The worshipers of the Merciful are those who walk humbly on the earth, and when the ignorant address them say: 'Peace' 63 They are those who spend the night worshipping their Lord, prostrating, and standing, 64 who pray, "Lord, protect us from the torment of hell; it is a great loss. 65 Indeed it is a most wretched abode. 66 And those, who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes). 67 who call not upon another god with God, nor slay the soul God has forbidden except by right, neither fornicate, for whosoever does that shall meet the price 68 Multiplied for him shall be the torment on the Day of Resurrection, and he shall therein abide disgraced. 69 Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 70 He who repents and does good deeds has truly turned to God. 71 (And the servants of the Merciful are those:) who do not bear witness to falsehood and who; if they have ever to pass by what is vain, pass by like dignified people: 72 And those who, when they are reminded of the revelations of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind thereat. 73 Those who say: 'Lord give us of our wives and children what pleases our eyes and make us leaders to the fearful' 74 Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect. 75 And abide there for ever: What an excellent destination and abode! 76 SAY [unto those who believe]: "No weight or value would my Sustainer attach to you were it not for your faith [in Him]!" And say unto those who deny [the truth:] "You have indeed given the lie [to God's message,] and in time this [sin] will cleave unto you!" 77
