Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 So he hurried to the house and brought a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ He said: What is your affair then, O apostles! 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
