Seest thou one who turns back, 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him. (Command of Prostration # 12) ۩ 62
