The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 for they are bent on giving it the lie, being always wont to follow their own desires. Yet everything reveals its truth in the end. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
