The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
