The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
