The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
