The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
