And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord!
