The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a few from later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
