Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
