In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
