The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
